Liquid wins two package design awards.

Two of Liquid Agency’s projects were singled out in the Graphic Design USA 2014 Package Design Awards competition. We are very happy to receive an award for the HP Chromebook 11 package – an innovative solution praised for its environmental responsibility and minimalist aesthetic. We are also thrilled to receive an award for the packaging of Ficks – a cocktail fortifier featuring healthy ingredients that counteract some of the negative effects of alcohol. “These two projects are examples of Liquid’s commitment to creating exceptional brand experiences for our clients” said Alfredo Muccino, Chief Creative Officer at Liquid Agency.

The GD USA Package Design Awards

For more than five decades, Graphic Design USA has sponsored national competitions that spotlight areas of excellence and creativity in a variety of design disciplines. One of the biggest annual competitions is the American Package Design Awards, which recognizes the country’s best package design. According to Graphic Design USA, “In this era of challenge and change, effective package, p-o-p, and in-store graphics are increasingly the “difference makers” in the success of a brand, a campaign, a product, a sale.” This year, entries in the competition grew by more than 12 percent from the previous year, raising the total to over 1,800 entries. In the end, only one-in-five were honored with a Certificate of Excellence. The winning entries will be featured in the April issue of Graphic Design USA, and they will also be published on the online version of the Design Annual. See more: www.gdusa.com

This ultra-minimalist and super affordable computer makes it possible for more people to access the Internet. Along with our client, we agreed that the packaging solution should echo the qualities of the product, focusing on simplicity. Specifically, we wanted to do less, not more. Our inspiration came from a humble take-out box that is perfectly functional, and compostable. Liquid worked closely with the client’s structural packaging designers and developed a deceptively simple-looking box that met the required high standards for structural integrity. It was not easy to meet all the packaging requirements, but by working as a team, we created a box that is minimalist not only in terms of aesthetics but also in terms of its environmental footprint.

This new breed of cocktail mixers is crafted with all natural ingredients that contain a high percentage of vitamins, electrolytes and antioxidants shown to counteract some of the negative effects of alcohol. Liquid was tasked with the brand development. We created the name Ficks, and positioned the product as a “Cocktail Fortifier.” The wordmark was a modern interpretation of traditional apothecary typography—which we twisted to subtly communicate that it reverses the effects of alcohol. The identity comes to life through a bottle inspired by the medicinal potions from the turn of the century.
