Marie spent years working in high-level positions for big agencies—until she became convinced that the old agency models were not flexible enough for today’s markets. She set out to find an agency that could be a real benefit to clients now, moving their businesses forward with both innovation and experience. Liquid Agency was a perfect fit. We’re excited to have Marie join us as Global Director of Business Development, working from our NYC office. And we look forward to collaborating with such a respected industry veteran, whose work has ranged across categories including consumer packaged goods, healthcare, travel and tourism, insurance, financial, telecommunications, and retail.
Q: How did you originally hear/learn about Liquid Agency?
A: Liquid Agency surfaced when I was looking for branding agencies with progressive alternatives to traditional, siloed models.There are so many branding opportunities yet to be realized in the new economy, but very few agencies genuinely organized to deliver them. I was very happy to discover that Liquid Agency had designed its operating model from its experience in Silicon Valley and applied it to generating brand strategy and brand experiences.
Q: Why did you want to join the company?
A: I was struck by the positive energy at Liquid Agency; the people I met had a real appetite for possibility, grounded in practicality. There’s intelligence and coherence in Liquid Agency’s walk and talk. It’s one thing to promise the lessons of Silicon Valley Thinking in fresh approaches to branding and development. But it’s quite extraordinary to prove the effectiveness of these approaches with consistently eloquent design thinking and work. That doesn’t happen by accident. Liquid Agency’s got an impressive stable of experienced talent, and it’s very well-run.
Q: What do you hope to accomplish here (this year and in the long term)?
A: You know the song: “Matchmaker, matchmaker, make me a match…” I want to introduce Liquid Agency’s Silicon Valley Thinking to clients poised to benefit from it and then arrange some very healthy marriages.
Q: What is the last book you have read?
A: The Lean Start up, by Eric Ries.
Q: What is your favorite drink? (Alcoholic or otherwise)
A: H2O. No kidding. But I love a good Côtes de Rhone red (i.e. Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras) with a great meal.
Q: What is the best advice you have ever received and from whom?
A: At the back of the church, from my Dad, the day I got married: “If you’re going to make this work, here’s my advice: ‘If you feel like you’re not being understood, understand more. If you feel like you’re not being loved, love more.’” I pull that out from the back of my head whenever any relationship I’m in gets hard. Damned hard to practice!
Q: What are your favorite activities outside of work?
A: Swimming, walking, hiking, taking advantage of all that NY has to offer.
