Liquid develops new brand guidelines for PlayStation.
The PlayStation brand is featured on thousands of games and accessories and on global marketing campaigns. It also appears on promotional products and retail merchandising programs that are produced by hundreds of agencies around the world. Therefore, maintaining consistency is no game. We designed a new and very comprehensive set of guidelines that get to the serious business of protecting the PlayStation brand identity.
The guidelines that had been developed to date were functional and highly technical.The previous document provided most of the information that someone would need to develop branded materials, however the guidelines were not very intuitive and certianly did not go very far in terms of expressing the PlayStation brand.
PlayStation had built a photographic library of images featuring a variety of people playing games on their platform. The images were nicely shot, but lacked any element that would make them feel unique to PlayStation. We leveraged the geometric pattern that is part of the brand’s visual language, and re-invented it to provide a dynamic and energetic feel to the photos, while also making them much more distinctive and obviously ‘PlayStation’.
The PlayStation is fun. Fun with friends. Fun with family. Fun on the go. We developed an introduction to the guidelines that helps communicate some of the brand values in an emotional manner and make the document more visually compelling.
The brand guidelines included all the necessary content and files to manage the family of PlayStation brands, including PlayStation logo, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and PlayStation Network assets.
