Banning’s experience in design and business thinking gives him a rare perspective when tackling his client’s multifaceted marketing challenges. Blending business acumen with a commitment to putting the customer at the heart of every solution, ensures an experience that both delights the target audience and contributes to a company’s bottom line.

In the course of his career, Banning has worked with many of the leading brand and design agencies, bringing his thinking to a range of client needs: working with Nokia, Dell, and Philips on their retail experience in China; assisting Philips in the expansion of their new “glowing objects” category; engaging with P&G’s retail team to help them communicate best-in-class European retail practices.

In addition to his work as a strategist, Banning is an award-winning designer in his own right. During his time working at Gensler, an international architecture firm, he designed award-winning contract furniture; created branded experiences for Nextel, Motorola, and Helio; he designed entertainment and sales environments for MGM | Mirage; furthermore, he delivered large-scale wayfinding programs for airports and new property development projects. Throughout which he earned awards from IDSA, VM+SD, and Neocon.

Prior to Liquid, Banning ran the Fitch satellite office in Beijing, consulted with the Brand Union and IDEO in London, and worked with Interbrand Paris to bring a strategic focus to their retail practice. Banning earned his MBA from INSEAD and Bachelor of Industrial Design from Syracuse University.
