This whole thing was started by a group of Brits that go by the name of The Adventurists. Check out their site: TheAdventurists.com. These intrepid explorers (also knows as the “insane bunch”) organize a few other adventures, like the Mongolian Rally and the Mototaxi Junket...and of course, the infamous Rickshaw Run. As soon as we heard about The Rickshaw Run, we said to ourselves “We MUST do this!”. That was almost two years ago. Since then we have been planning this expedition, and now Liquid Agency has two teams ready to race across India and compete with another 40 or so rickshaws driven by people that gather from all over the world to risk life and limb on the quest to cross the country while raising money for charity.

We’ve put together our own site to celebrate the adventure: Check it out!
Please visit The RR11 site to learn more about the expedition, meet the drivers and take a closer look at our customized rickshaws. That’s also where you can donate to the charities or buy some of the cool merchandise we’ve designed specifically for the expedition. Keep in mind that all the profits from the sales go to the charities! And, once we’re off on our adventure we will be blogging on a regular basis, so be sure to follow us on the RR11 website.

What is a rickshaw?
Some have described it as a “glorified lawnmower”, yet rickshaws are used all over India as taxis. That’s because they are inexpensive, easy to fix, and get good gas mileage. They also have no seat belts, they are slow, easy to break down (and tip over) ,and they’re extremely uncomfortable for long hauls. Of course, we would not have it any other way. The Rickshaw Run 2011 is supposed to be an adventure – not a guided tour – and we can’t wait to get started. Our two rickshaws are customized, and ready to race.

The stupidest thing you can do in two weeks.
The race starts on April 15 in Cochin and we’re supposed to get to Shillong, which is approximately 5,000 Km or 3,000 Miles, by May 1. We have no hotel reservations, no support teams, no guides, and no route. We’re going to travel across cities, jungles, rivers and mountains…in all sorts of weather conditions. None of us have ever been to India, which makes it that much more fun. The event has been described as “the stupidest thing you can do in two weeks”. It will definitely be uncomfortable and strenuous…and at times, dangerous – but those are not the reasons we’re doing it. Click here to watch the video.

Then why? Because we want to raise money for two great organizations.
The biggest reason we’re doing the Rickshaw Run is that it’s all for a good cause – or two. Our goal is to raise $10,000 towards the International Rescue Corps and UNICEF – two organizations that are helping make the world a better place for those less fortunate than you. This is where you come in!

And, please help us spread the word!
Besides donating and/or buying some of our cool stuff…you can also help BIG TIME by spreading the word. Please contact all your friends on Facebook and let them know about this…and also anyone else you can – family, co-workers, drinking buddies, teammates, dance partners, former jailmates…you get the idea!

We’re very much looking forward to this adventure, and we want to raise as much money as possible to make it worthwhile…so we really, really appreciate any help that you can give us.
