Slice is one of those rare clients where Liquid gets a chance to influence most of the brand touchpoints. Alfredo Muccino, our Chief Creative Officer is also the Brand Architect for Slice - and in that role he has been working closely with TJ Scimone, the founder and CEO of the company in helping define a strategy for the business. Alfredo also influences the creative direction taken by the various agencies on the brand's identity and marketing...and works closely with TJ on product development issues.

Slice is still in its infancy, however the brand is beginning to gain momentum – especially with design-savvy audiences – as evidence by its recent coverage on Core77. Slice was one of the highlights of the annual International Home + Housewares Show. Since 1995, Core77 has served a devoted global audience of industrial designers – ranging from students to established professionals. Core77 provides a gathering point for designers and enthusiasts by producing design competitions, lecture series, parties, and exhibits.

The International Home + Housewares Show is the world’s premier housewares marketplace, featuring more than 2,000 exhibitors from 34 countries. The show is attended by more than 20,000 buyers from over 100 countries around the world. This exciting event offers the opportunity to see first-hand consumer lifestyle and product trends for the home environment, both inside and out. Housewares products are categorized into four show-within-a-show expos: Clean + Contain, Dine + Design, Wired + Well, and Global Crossroads.

Slice was part of the Dine + Design expo, and made their debut of a new logo, new booth, and a line of new products. Core77 was at the event and interviewed Slice’s founder, TJ Scimone. In the interview, TJ walks us through the line’s star designers which includes some of the world’s most celebrated designers, including Karim RashidMichael Graves, Yves Behar, fresh talent Scot Herbst – who is rapidly becoming a much sought-after star designer – and our very own Alfredo Muccino. In the interview, TJ demonstrates Slice’s latest utility knife, a U-shaped box cutter that’s both ergonomic and protective, designed collaboratively by Alfredo and Scot.

The box cutter uses ceramic blades that last 10X longer than traditional metal blades, while its unique shape offers a better grip and improved safety features. Without a question, the design of this product sets it apart from all other utility knifes on the market.
