Mark has spent most of the last 20 years building technology solutions for both government and enterprise clients. His passion is bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions—meeting the immediate needs of his clients while keeping an eye on long term strategy initiatives. His background in hardware, software and development make him a strong leader for Liquid's digital marketing ventures.

Mark served as an Arabic Linguist for the United States Army. During his term of service, he attended the Defense Language Institute where he earned a degree in Arabic Studies in addition to his required coursework. He is excited to translate his language skills into solutions for Liquid’s client technology challenges. Mark sees similarities between language learning and technology. “Learning another language forces you to look at learning and problem solving in different ways. Technology presents a similar set of issues,” Mark says. “Knowing how technology works is only half the battle, successfully utilizing it to solve problems requires a combination of analysis and problem solving in order to achieve superior results.”

Most recently, Mark was Manager of Interactive Technology for American Airlines’ Communications Department where he built and led a development team to function as an in-house digital agency. Under his leadership, the team built enterprise class digital solutions for a variety of internal stakeholders including communications, human resources and social media. He also served as the digital strategist for integrated marketing campaigns and long term content marketing goals.

We are excited that Mark decided to join us in to support the growth of our digital capabilities.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW.

How did you originally hear/learn about Liquid?
I am a relative newcomer to the agency world and so I was unfamiliar with Liquid, until I started looking at your portfolio. I quickly realized you have been interacting with me through many of my favorite brands for years.

Why did you want to join the company?
I take great pride in designing innovative technology solutions for complex business problems. Being in such a dynamic environment allows me to constantly re-evaluate existing and emerging technologies to achieve groundbreaking results. I look forward to contributing my technical insights into an array of diverse projects.

What do you hope to accomplish here (this year and in the long term)?
My goal is to have an immediate impact on digital solutions implementation. I plan to focus on the clients’ business needs, technical deliverables, and emerging technologies. I hope to quickly pick up on our clients’ long term strategies and help them identify areas to grow into.

What is the last book you have read?
I allowed my inner sci-fi geek to prevail and re-read Ender’s Game in anticipation of the movie that will debut later this year.

What is your favorite drink (alcoholic or otherwise)?
There are two particular libations that are absolute guilty pleasures for me. The first being Henry Weinhard’s Root Beer and the second being a good hard cider, preferably on tap.

What is the best advice you have ever received and from whom?
I’ve always been fond of the famous Greek maxim “know thyself”. Being able to step outside of myself and analyze my performance objectively makes me my own worst critic. I try to work with colleagues to do the same thing in order to maximize strengths and account for weaknesses.

What are your favorite activities outside of work?
I am an avid soccer aficionado. I follow everything from professional leagues to international tournaments. On a more active note, I love getting the kayaks out and paddling around with the family. I’m not ready for class 5 rapids, but we do enjoy our time on the water.
